Bernard was invited to speak at the Clayton County Criminal Law Seminar on October 28th. He presented the Georgia Case Law Update which highlights important decisions from the past year from the U.S. Supreme Court and Georgia appellate courts. This year was a very critical year for cases dealing with a defendant’s constitutional speedy trial rights, the right to subpoena out-of-state witnesses and evidence, the right to confront crime lab experts and the right to the effective assistance of counsel during plea negotiations. On November 5th, Bernard will be speaking again at the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers Annual Fall Seminar which is being held at Brasstown Valley Resort.
